Getting Started: What You Need

Installing/Updating EVŌ – Installing and updating EVŌ works the same as any other smart phone app you’ve acquired via the Apple App Store or Google Play. As updates to EVŌ are released, you will receive notifications via the App Store, Google Play, and the EVŌ message center.

Wearables and Smart Devices – EVŌ works together with today’s leading wearables and smart phones. Currently, we support iPhones using iOS v9.0 and above; Android phones supporting firmware v 5.0 and above; Garmin devices supporting SDK v 1.0 and above, Apple HealthKit, Fitbit, and Google Fit devices. If you’re experiencing issues with specific wearables or smart devices, please check their respective support information prior to contacting EVŌ support (Support@EVO.Science).

First-time Configuration – email, passwords, permissions, registration codes

  • Valid emails– The email you provide when configuring EVŌ will be the same email EVŌ uses to communicate with you outside the Message Center. Together with your display name and password, it creates a unique identifier for you. All emails are checked for validity and redundancy. If you receive an error message when entering an email address, it may be that you have already registered with EVŌ. Please choose the “login” option on the home screen to login. It may be that the email has already been used for a registered user. In this case, you’ll need to use a different email for registration.
  • Valid Passwords(hyperlink to Creating / Updating / Resetting / Forgot Password) – valid EVŌ passwords are greater than 7 characters in length and must include one uppercase letter, one lowercase letters and one special symbol or number (e.g. % $? 1 2 3)
  • Registration Code– What is it? A registration code is a 5-character identifier used to uniquely associate you with EVŌ and a specific employer group, insurance and/or care provider. This code is required for you to complete the EVŌ set-up process and should be provided to you (via a separate communication) by a group administrator prior to your first-time logon to EVŌ.
  • Choosing “One Thing to Focus On” – EVŌ has been designed to help you achieve your life-long wellness goals. Though EVŌ integrates all wellness goals to provide a holistic approach, focusing on “one thing”, and doing it well sets a pattern for success. By selecting Steps, Exercise, Sleep, or Stress as your “one thing”, you’re creating the foundation for better wellness with EVŌ.
  • Personality Profile– Part of what makes EVŌ uniquely personal is that it understands and integrates both personality and activity levels. To improve the accuracy and effectiveness of your wellness plan (also to enable the delivery of all EVŌ-developed plans), EVŌ uses a simple yet powerful set of “personality” questions each time a plan is created or changed. These questions serve to establish a base-line or build upon the experience of your wellness journey.
  • Existing Health Conditions– As part of the initial set-up process, the Existing Health Conditions survey will help EVŌ personalize and customize your wellness plan.

Profiles, Login and Passwords

YOUR PROFILE – Your Profile information is created during the “new to EVŌ” set-up process.  It includes First and Last Name, Display Name (what shows up on the top of your screen and in personalized notifications), Email, Gender, Date-of-Birth, Height, and Weight.  You can access and update your Profile information from the Main Menu and selecting Settings then Profile.

LOGIN and PASSWORD – Your EVŌ Login consists of your email address and password.  Both are initially set during the “new to EVŌ” set-up process.  You can access and update your Login email and password from the Main Menu and selecting Settings then Profile option.  If you forget your password, or have more than 3 unsuccessful attempts to Login to EVŌ, you can reset your password via the “forgot password” prompt on the home screen.

FORGOT MY PASSWORD – if you forget your password, you can use the “forgot my password” prompt on the EVŌ home screen.  This will trigger an email that will be sent to the email EVŌ has on file.  A code and instructions will be contained in the email you receive.  If you do not receive an email from EVŌ, contact at Support@EVO.Science for assistance.

Trackers & Supported Smart Devices

Managing You Devices:  Configuring (“pairing”) and managing your EVŌ-paired devices occurs in two areas:

NEW DEVICE SET UP:  When you set up EVŌ for the first time, you will be asked “how you would like to track your data.”  First, you should “toggle-on “use my phone” so that EVŌ can access data that your smart phone automatically collects for you (e.g. motion that helps improve the accuracy of steps and exercise).  Next, you’ll be given a choice of the leading “wearables” to pair.  Tap the category of device you are using and EVŌ will start the pairing process automatically.  You will receive a confirmation (“Done!), and then you will have the opportunity to “pair” another device or continue.  When a device has been successfully paired with EVŌ, you will see a check mark (✓) next to the device.

USE MY PHONE – When you toggle-on “use my phone”, you enable EVŌ to access data that your smart phone automatically collects for you (e.g. motion from the accelerometer). Enabling this feature will help you and EVŌ create and manage a more accurate and effective wellness plan.

MANAGING YOUR DEVICE(S): Going to Main Menu > Settings > Devices allows you to add (pair new), delete, and share historic data (as available) from the most popular wearables including Apple, Fitbit, Garmin and Google Fit.  Your main device screen will show all EVŌ-paired devices.

  • Deleting an EVŌ-paired Device – To delete a device, select device button then, select “Yes, Disable” from the pop-up.  This will delete the device but not the historic data captured from the device.
  • Share Historic Data (Apple Health Kit only) – To share historic Apple Health Kit data, Apple Health Kit must be “paired” prior to sharing history.  You will know if Apple Health Kit has been paired as the “Share History” button will not appear until Apple Health Kit has been successfully paired.
  • Adding a New / Additional Device – To add a new or additional device (e.g. multiple Garmin devices), tap on the add new device “+” icon.  EVŌ supports multiple devices, syncing, and consolidating information across them.

Setting, Viewing and Managing My Wellness Goals

WELLNESS GOALS AND PLANS – Unlike other fitness or wellness apps, EVŌ combines data, science, and decades of experience to create and manage a uniquely personal wellness journey.  EVŌ wellness journeys are built around four core dimensions (or “areas”) of personal wellness:  sleep, steps, exercise, and stress.  During the New to EVŌ set-up, upon “Goal Achievement”, or via the Main Menu Display name hyper-link, each area can be selected as your “one area to focus on”.  When selected, EVŌ prompts you to fill out a short personality questionnaire which forms the basis for plan creation and management.

PERSONALITY QUESTIONNAIRE – Part of what makes EVŌ uniquely personal is that it understands and integrates both personality and activity levels.  To improve the accuracy and effectiveness of your wellness plan (and, to enable the delivery of all EVŌ-developed plans), EVŌ uses a simple yet powerful set of “personality” questions each time a plan is created or changed.  These questions serve to establish a base-line or build upon the experience of your wellness journey.

SLEEP GOAL – The objective of the SLEEP goal is to achieve daily sleep goals (e.g. duration) and consistency over time.  As with other wellness dimensions (areas), sleep can influence and be influenced by other areas (e.g. STEPS, EXERCISE, STRESS).  EVŌ understands these inter-relationships and creates/manages a plan uniquely designed for you.  Notifications, Daily and Weekly Recaps, and logging your sleep all help you to achieve your goal.

  • SLEEP DASHBOARD– Your SLEEP DASHBOARD can be accessed from the Main Menu > Progress option.  The default screen shows you a summary of your most recent SLEEP episode including:

    • Sleep Ring and Summary Bar – Both provide a summary of total duration with the sleep bar identifying when you went to sleep and when you got up.  If your EVŌ-paired device is able to capture advanced sleep activity (via heart-rate monitoring), the sleep ring and summary bar will display awake, light, and deep sleep patterns.
    • Sleep Goal Met – Provides a quick summary of the days you meet your sleep goal (white highlight) for the current week.
    • Log Sleep – Can be accessed from the SLEEP DASHBOARD or LOG SLEEP option of EVŌ‘s right menu bar.  You can set the date (via the “pencil” icon next to the date), then drag the “moon” and “sun” icons around the ring to establish when you went to bed, and when you got up.  Total sleep duration will appear in the center of the sleep ring.  Pressing Log Sleep will capture your manually entered sleep time.

EXERCISE GOAL – Like STEPS, the objective of the EXERCISE goal is to encourage the right pattern and level of physical activity.  It is designed to accommodate different “modes” of exercise (e.g. running, cycling, swimming, yoga) and help you achieve both daily exercise “goals” and consistency over time.  As with other wellness dimensions (areas), exercise can influence and be influenced by other areas (e.g. STEPS, SLEEP, STRESS).  EVŌ understands these inter-relationships and creates/manages a plan uniquely designed for you.  Notifications, Daily, and Weekly Recaps all help you to achieve your goal.

    • Current stress level (low, moderate, high) and a historic view of stress levels.

    • Stress History – Provides a scrollable screen of hourly stress levels by day across your entire history.

STANDBY MODE – When life gets busy or things change, EVŌ offers the flexibility to put your plan on “hold”.   STANDBY mode retains your current goal plan for up to 2 months.  If you do not take your plan off STANDBY after 2 months, EVŌ will prompt you to reset your goal.

WHEN EVŌ SETS YOUR GOAL / PLAN – When EVŌ sets and manages your goals, you’re tapping into this deep science and experience that connects with your personality and personal wellness needs.  Progress recaps, rewards, motivational “nudges”, and setting new goals all build on this base to help you be the best you can be.
